The Akita International Haiku, Senryū, and Tanka Network organized the Japan-Russia Haiku Contest with great success for 7 years. This tri-lingual (Japanese, Russian, and English) contest always yielded beautiful poetry from poets all over the world.

This year, however, we are re-launching the haiku contest simply as “Akita International Haiku Contest” and will (regretfully) only be accepting haiku in Japanese or English.

The organizers still hope that the contest will serve as an opportunity to deepen mutual understanding among people from all over the world, and promote Japan’s traditional poetic form of HAIKU. We also hope that this contest will continue to draw attention to the Akita region, its rich natural heritage, and community of poets.

ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to the public of any nationality in the world.

ENTRY: Only one (1) haiku is allowed to be submitted per haiku poet. Haiku must be UNPUBLISHED.

THEME: IMPERMANENCE; CHANGE 無常・変化
*The 17 syllable form is encouraged, but not required.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINE:
Original, previously unpublished haiku should be submitted according to the entry form. Please, Japanese or English haiku only.

SUBMISSION PERIOD: November 1, 2019 – December 31, 2019

AWARDS:
Two winners from each haiku section will be notified by email in mid-February 2020 and announced on the website of Akita International Haiku Network (https://akitahaiku.com/) . The winners from each category as well as 10 haiku of honorable mention will be published in Serow, Volume 3 (Akita International Haiku Network’s journal) and published in Spring 2020.

Each winner will be presented with a print edition of Serow.

はじめに

秋田国際俳句・川柳・短歌ネットワークは2012年から７年間、日露俳句コンテストを実施しました。毎年世界中からとても良い俳句が三ヶ国語（日本語、ロシア語、英語）でコンテストに寄せられました。参加された皆様、ご協力誠にありがとうございました。

今年、令和元年（2019）に「日露俳句コンテスト」は、「秋田国際俳句コンテスト」として再発足します。残念ですが、三ヶ国語ではなく、使用言語は日本語と英語に限ります。

コンテストの主催者として、この国際俳句コンテストによって、世界中の皆様の相互理解が深まるとともに日本の素晴らしい伝統の俳句が広まることを期待します。

応募資格： 国籍、年齢は問いません。

お題: 「無常」「変化」 （雑詠も可）

投句数：未発表句・１句

使用言語:　日本語・英語のみ

部門：日本語部門一般・学生、英語部門一般・学生（四部門）
