Haiku by Mona Iordan
neon lights
the stars blinded
one by one
deserted village
my Google Maps
is useless
too late
for the corn field
flooding rains
owl screech
the emptied wood
relapses into silence
frozen watermelon
the polar bear craves
after his sea ice
thinner snowcap
the stream struggling
to reach the plain
plastic bags
no more place
for the fish
my woolen gloves
forgotten in the drawer
global warming
school outing
in the display cases
extinct animals
long border queue
a woman lifts her toddler
higher on her hip
