Haiku by Nina Kovačić
Drava river mud
a song in minor accompanies
falling of leaves
(IRIS Haiku Magazine Year 11th, No. 16, Ivanić-Grad, Croatia, 2022)
a hilltop cemetery
rusted crosses grow
from the tall grass
(IRIS Haiku Magazine Year 11th, No. 16, Ivanić-Grad, Croatia, 2022)
front-page news…
wind spreads war anxiety
over the beach
(4th Contest organized by the “Juraj Šižgorić” library for best unpublished haiku, Šibenik, Croatia, 2022)
the unclouded sky
grenades digging a field
of dandelions
(The Kyoto Haiku Project 2022, Haiku of the world: Writing on the “Peace” / 「平和」を詠む)
echoes of a train
in a deserted village
the new ant hill
(IRIS Haiku Magazine Year 11th, No. 16, Ivanić-Grad, Croatia, 2022)
dance of dervish / dancing dervish / dervish dance –
the wind whirls a dust
on a county road
(Previously unpublished)
wind from the south seas…
above the sodden furrows
It’s petals bloom only in the bright sunlight and remain hidden at night.
(Previously unpublished)
a bare orchard
the smell of warming earth
announces the budding
(Previously unpublished)
young leaves scent…
in the soft woodland trek
signature of paws
(Previously unpublished)
a burnt mountain edge / slope…
the new growth shoots forth
from the thin soil
