Note: Short Japanese Poetry of 17 phonetic Units of 5, 7, 5 Pattern
Inspired by ten English haiku by Oleg Voronoi, Hidenori Hiruta translated them literally into ten Japanese short poems first of all.
As a result, the interpretative Japanese poems of 5, 7, 5 pattern are added to the English haiku as above.
Some of them might be haiku（俳句）, and others senryū（川柳).
Surprisingly, three of the English haiku were interpreted into Japanese tanka （短歌） poetry of 5,7,5,7,7 pattern.
This is because English is different from Japanese.
Here is an illustration sent by Voronoi Oleg’s reader.
He says, “One of the readers suggests illustrating haiku, but she herself does not know calligraphy and cannot draw. Here is a sample she sent…”
Brief Bio:
Voronoi Oleg Nikolaevich. Born July 31, 1962. Born in the village of Preobrazhenie, Lazovsky district, Primorsky Krai. A native resident of the Lazovsky district, he grew up among hunters, fishermen, and root workers.
In 1984 he graduated from the Primorsky Agricultural Institute with a degree in mechanical engineer, in 2003 he graduated from the Far Eastern Academy of Public Service with a degree in manager of state and municipal administration.
In 2006 he was admitted to the Union of Russian Writers. Since 2013, Chairman of the Primorsky branch of the Union of Russian Writers. Chairman of the Environmental Commission and member of the Creative Commission of the Union of Russian Writers. Since 2018, he has been passionate about writing tanka and haiku.
Currently he is studying the legacy of V.K. Arsenyev, concerning his first little-known expeditions in the Lazovsky region of the Primorsky Territory in 1903-1905 and his activities during this period. 14 articles published. Member of the Russian Geographical Society since 2017.
Вороной Олег Николаевич. 31 июля 1962 года рождения. Родился в п. Преображение Лазовского района Приморского края. Коренной житель Лазовского района, вырос среди охотников, рыбаков, корневщиков.
В 1984 году закончил Приморский сельхозинститут по специальности «инженер-механик», в 2003 закончил Дальневосточную академию государственной службы по специальности «менеджер государственного и муниципального управления».
В 2006 году принят в Союз российских писателей. С 2013 года председатель Приморского отделения Союза российских писателей. Председатель Экологической Комиссии и член Творческой Комиссии Союза российских писателей. С 2018 года увлечён написанием танка и хайку.
В настоящее время изучаю наследие В.К. Арсеньева, касающееся его первых малоизвестных экспедиций по Лазовскому району Приморского края в 1903-1905 годах и его деятельности в этот период. Опубликовано 14 статей. Член Русского Географического общества с 2017 года.
