Note: Short Japanese Poetry of 17 phonetic Units of 5, 7, 5 Pattern
Inspired by ten English haiku by Luce Pelletier, Hidenori Hiruta translated them literally into Japanese short poems first of all.
As a result, eight interpretative Japanese poems of 5, 7, 5 pattern are added to the English haiku as above. Some of them might be haiku(俳句), and others senryū(川柳).
And two of the English haiku are interpreted into Japanese tanka(短歌)poetry of 5,7,5,7,7 pattern.
This is because English is different from Japanese.

Luce Bio:
Luce Pelletier is a self-taught poet.
Born in the province of Quebec, she embarked in the adventure of poetry at age 40. She writes free-form poetry, haiku and haibun mainly.
Her work can be found in a number of collective works, and can be heard on her YouTube channel: user/unpseudopourcesiecle.
She is the author of four poetry books and has received several honorable mentions and awards in a number of international contests. Her fifth solo poetry book will be published early 2025 with Editions David.
In her discovery of Japanese poetry throughout the years, she explored various forms of collective writing.
Besides participating to renkus, she has directed and self-published four Rensaku chapbooks. Two of those in French and two combining French and English haikus. She has invented the “rengoum”, which is a renga-pantoum hybrid. Two books of such poems have been published.
Luce is a member of Haiku Society of America, Haiku Canada, Société Littéraire de Laval, Écrivains francophones d’Amérique and Union des Écrivains et Écrivaines du Québec (UNEQ).

Original and creative work!

Thank you for the detailed explanation of short poems, Hidenori Sama.
There is no age for learning. I see myself learning from you each day.
Congratulations!
