a paper boat

早秋に霞のかかる彼女の目

Note: Short Japanese Poetry of 17 phonetic Units of 5, 7, 5 Pattern

Inspired by ten English haiku by Marie-France EVRARD, Hidenori Hiruta translated them literally into Japanese short poems first of all.

As a result, nine interpretative Japanese poems of 5, 7, 5 pattern are added to the English haiku as above. Some of them might be haiku（俳句）, and others senryū（川柳). 

And one of the English haiku is interpreted into Japanese tanka（短歌）poetry of 5,7,5,7,7 pattern.

This is because English is different from Japanese.

Biography :

I’m 61 and live in Belgium.

Married with two children, I work as a business analyst.

It was during the Covid period, at the end of 2020, that I started writing haikus in my mother tongue, French.

I regularly share my haikus on Facebook or Instagram.

I’ve been lucky enough to have some of my haiku or haibun published in a dozen collective collections.
