天に雲湖面にコピー眺む吾

country landmark-
cherry and laurel canopies
touching each other
天蓋の触れ合う桜月桂樹これら田舎のランドマークに
*
down the slope
a magpie plays around
with a walnut
坂下り鵲遊ぶ胡桃かな
*
dry season-
on the bottom of the cleft
a restless brook
地の裂け目乾季の小川乞ひにけり

a passionflower
tangled into its tendrils
to the throat
時計草絡み合う蔓喉までも
*
afte the flood
gathering neighbors
smileless
洪水後近所の人に笑顔なし

chimney smoke
merging with a cloud
and a flock of birds
煙突の煙に雲と鳥の群れ

our draw well
using the roots of
the neighbor’s plum
つるべ井戸隣家の梅の根を使う

a pumpkin for a pie
and oil from its seeds-
old man’s joy

Note: Short Japanese Poetry of 17 phonetic Units of 5, 7, 5 Pattern
Inspired by nine English haiku by Vilma Knežević, Hidenori Hiruta translated them literally into Japanese short poems first of all.
As a result, seven interpretative Japanese poems of 5, 7, 5 pattern are added to the English haiku as above. Some of them might be haiku（俳句）, and others senryū（川柳).
And two of the English haiku are interpreted into Japanese tanka（短歌）poems of 5,7,5,7,7 pattern.
This is because English is different from Japanese.
