deep in the reeds of bamboos

persimmon leaf

red

 

竹林に柿の葉の赤奥深し

chikurin ni  kaki no ha no aka  oku fukashi

 

Matsushima

maple

shower leaves

pointed red

 

松島や紅葉のシャワー赤き先

matsushima ya  momiji no shawā  akaki saki

 

 

first glimpse of Fujiyama

great blue heron

lifts from the pond

 

池を立つオオアオサギや富士初見

ike wo tatsu  ōaosagi ya  fuji shoken

 

a thousand thousand

red maples

descending

Hakone mountain road

 

幾千本紅葉の箱根下りけり

iku-sen-bon  momiji no hakone  kudari keri

 

 

 

snow on every tuft

of pampas grass

one side only

 

房中に雪の薄や片面に

fusajū ni  yuki no susuki ya  kata-men ni

 

month of no lotus

Kenrokuen pond

filled with shimmering maples

蓮の無き紅葉の池の師走かな

hasu no naki  momiji no ike no  shiwasu kana

 

 

 

three kites spiral

plumes of smoke

from Sakurajima

 

桜島噴煙に渦凧三つ

sakurajima  funen ni uzu  tako mittsu

 

 

 

as i sit

within my favourite gate

leaves start rattling

 

門内に座るや否やざわめく葉

mon-nai ni  suwaru-ya-ina-ya  zawameku ha

 

 

cascading

terraces

leaves all manner of red

blue SKY

 

青空に紅葉のテラス滝の如

aozora ni  momiji no terasu  taki no goto

 

as the Golden Pavillion

shimmers on the pond

darkness in the pines

 

松の闇池にきらめく金閣寺

matsu no yami  ike ni kirameku  kinkaku-ji
