trees are like women

their leaves are resilient

their roots give life

 

木は女性葉のしなやかさ根は生命

ki wa josei  ha no shinayakasa  ne wa seimei

emptiness crawls in

this arid winter morning

fill it with music.

 

音楽や空虚を満たす冬の朝

ongaku ya  kūkyo wo mitasu  fuyu no asa

*

birds chatter all day

outside my open window

taming the silence.

 

静寂を鳥の囀り和らげり

seijaku wo  tori no saezuri  yawarage ri

*

rearrange each day

with learning and unlearning

life’s jigsaw puzzle.

 

毎日はジグソーパズル日々新た

mainichi wa  jigusōpazuru  hibi arata

*

the waves washed ashore

embracing the waiting sand

like a homecoming.

 

寄せる波故郷のごと浜包む

yoseru nami  furusato no goto  hama tsutsumu

*

along the river

of hidden histories

fishing for fables

 

川沿いに歴史の寓話漁りけり

kawa-zoi ni  rekishi ni guūwa  asari keri

*

living in a shell

you can still touch the sky

cosmic seduction

 

閉じこもり空を見上げて宇宙恋ふ

tojikomori  sora wo miage te  uchū kou

*

there in the sky

dark clouds huddle

conspiring rain

 

暗雲は雨の企むうねりかな

anun wa  ame no takuramu  uneri kana

*

they have a kinship

ukiyo-e and haiku

hold them in your art!

 

浮世絵に俳句の世界感じけり

ukiyoe ni  haiku no sekai  kanji keri

*

each syllable sings

with blood in my veins

song of a haiku

 

血と共に音節詠ふ俳句かな

chi to tom oni  onsetsu utau  haiku kana

Bina’s Bio:

Bina (Sarkar Ellias) is a poet, writer and art curator.

As founder-editor-designer-publisher of International Gallerie since 1997, she has completed 50 collectible volumes. 

Her 7th book,‘Ukiyo-e Days… Haiku Moments’ was recently launched. 

Her second book of poems ‘Fuse’ has been taught at Towson University, USA. 

Her poems have been translated into French, Spanish, Greek, Chinese, Arabic and Urdu. Amongst other awards, she has received the Times Group Yami Women Achievers’ Award, in 2008, and the FICCI/FLO award for excellence in her work, in 2013.

Bina is a nomad… based in India.
