A Great Submission of Haiku and Tanka by Eduard Schmidt-Zorner in Ireland

 

On October 16, 2018, such a nice e-mail arrived at the Akita International Haiku Network from Mr. Eduard Schmidt-Zorner in Ireland.

It was a great submission of haiku and tanka with his bio and photos.

 

BIO

Eduard Schmidt-Zorner is an artist and translator of poetry.

He is writing haibun and haiku in four languages: English, French, Spanish and German and holds workshops on Japanese and Chinese style poetry.

He is a member of four writer groups in Ireland. He lives in County Kerry, Ireland, since more than 25 years and is a proud Irish citizen.

He was published in 26 anthologies, literary journals and broadsheets in UK, Ireland and USA.

Writes also under his pen name: Eadbhard McGowan

small branch of knowledge

bird – singing a song on it

darkness falls softly

 

知識の小枝

そこで歌を歌っている小鳥

暗闇が静かに降りる

 

in it the voice

of a cuckoo – herald of spring

counting the years

 

その中にカッコウの声 ―

春の使者

年月を数えている

 

drifting clouds

brittle seams of a worn heart

dissolve

 

漂っている雲

疲れ切った心の固い縫い目

ほどける

 

homey abode

the kettle sings in the frost

cold its voice

 

英国人の住まい

湯沸かしが霜の中で歌う

冷たいその声

 

dreams fading away

behind the door bubbles tea

morning page opens

 

夢が消えていく

玄関の裏側でお茶を泡立てる

朝のページが開く

 

whitethorn petals like snow

memories gone with the wind

I see you next year?

 

雪のようなサンザシの花びら

思い出が風と共に去った

来年はあなたを見れる?

 

look at the kind moon,

round like a crisp healthy bread

promising deep sleep

 

優しい月を見てごらん、

カリカリした健康的なパンのように丸い

深い眠りを約束している

 

herons are startled

storm stirred the calm water

fish takes quick refuge

 

鷺がびっくりしている

嵐が穏やかな水面を揺り動かした

魚は素早く逃避する

 

lights extinguish

windows darken, close their eyes

moon wakes up

 

明かりが消える

窓が暗くなり、目を閉じる

月が目を覚ます

 

paper flags wave in the autumn wind

whispering words and sprinkle letters

words fall to the ground

 

紙の旗が秋風に翻る

ささやきの言葉とちりばめられた手紙

言葉が地面に落ちる

 

a few twinkling stars

on a clear autumn night sky

calendar sheets and leaves fall

seven big yellow pumpkins

make season change joyful

 

数個のきらきら輝く星

澄んだ秋の夜空に

カレンダーの紙布と葉が落ちる

7個の大きな黄色いカボチャ

季節の変化を楽しくする

 

last harvest of fruits

country in slowdown mode

blanket of hoar frost

vintners fill barrels and crates

provision for winter months

 

果物の最後の収穫

のんびりとした雰囲気の田舎

白く覆った霜のブランケット

ワイン醸造業者は樽と木枠を満たす

冬月間の用意

 

leaves knock at window

storm rattles at barn gates

let’s prepare for storm and snow

farmer is counting his bails

the warm steam from his cow’s mouth

 

葉がドアをノックする

嵐が納屋の入り口でガタガタ鳴る

嵐と雪に備えよう

農夫は枠を数えている

牛の口から出ている温かい蒸気
