Bio:

My name is Barbara Olmtak. I am 60 years old and was born in Suriname, a former colony of the Netherlands in South America.

Presently I live in the Netherlands where I work as a teacher and am now coaching pupils at secondary schools in Amsterdam.

I started writing haiku in Dutch and sometimes Sranan tongo (one of the languages spoken in Suriname) in 2015 and have switched to English in order to be able to exchange with hajin the world over.

I am an active member in the FB platform of Haiku Column University Japan where my haiku have been selected and translated and featured in the Anthology number six and a few in Haikukai Japan.
