1.

 

会話すはビデオ通話にてまたたくま解消す時差13時間

 

the conversation between us

is through a video call…

in an instant

the time difference of 13 hours

is eliminated

2.

 

みっしりと浮葉のこむる池の冥きより睡蓮はふくらみゆけり

 

closely

lots of leaves floating

on the pond…

flowers of water lily blooming

from abyss

 

 

3.

 

ゆるされて自粛をときてショッピング見飽きて残余のしづむ魂

 

with permission

I break self-control

on shopping…

what is left after I tire of seeing

brings spirits low

 

※COVID-19の自粛で買い物を控えていました。

I refrained myself from shopping due to COVID-19.

 

4.

 

物界にしづむ己れにたへがたく朝戸をあけて梅雨空仰ぐ

 

not being able 

to stand in worldly desire–

opening the morning-door 

to look up at the sky  

on a rainy day 

 

5.

 

三界をこえてきにしか雨露おきて凌霄花ほかり咲きける

 

has it

crossed the three worlds? 

with rain-dew

campsis grandiflora

blooms in the air

 

※　About the three world/ San-Gai: It is a Buddhist term referring to the three worlds of greed, colour and colourlessness, and dividing the world in which sentient beings reincarnate through repeated cycles of birth and death into the three worlds.

かく思へば夏蝶きたり我が前をしばし羽ばたき繁みにきゆる　

 

just as I think so 

a summer butterfly flies 

out to me 

flapping for a while 

and disappears into the bush 

 

7.

 

金糸梅ふかき秘めごと耐へきれず梅雨ににごすか しとどそぼつる

 

does 

sungold st .john’s wort

keeping a deep secret

drown it in the rainy season?

a lot of raindrops on petals

 

 

8.

 

百合花にかはづの二匹棲まひたり　かをる夏園ここちのよきか

 

two frogs

inhabiting the lily…

a fragrant 

summer paradise 

must be cosy

 

 

9.

 

直線に降りくる雨に我ぬらす容赦なき雲とぐろ巻きをり

 

drenched with the rain 

falling straight from the sky…

circling around

relentless rain clouds

blacken the areas

 

※今夏は曇りがちで大雨の日が続きました。降ってくる雨も風に流されないで、空からそのまま落ちてくるような雨でした。

   It was cloudy and rainy this summer, and we had many heavy rainy days. The rain that fell was not blown off by the wind and seemed to fall directly from the sky.

雫する笹生かがやき新たなる葉はしなやかに巻きをほどけり

 

a plane of

bamboo grasses with drops

shines up

and new leaves curling up

gracefully undo themselves
