Haiku by Chen Xiaoou in China (7)

wagon lurches along
awakened sleepers soon
fall into sleep again

falling blossom
pauses in the air

in my hand
and so far away
the flying kite

dews glittering
in the morning sun
spider web

grinding rocks
into sands on seashore
water and time

among the skyscrapers and

I pray you
not to shoot
the northward goose
for the wandering son who
misses his family at sleepless nights
has been expecting from his parents
a message which the goose is
now carrying across the sky

Here are three photos presented by Mr. Chen Xiaoou.

Note to the pictures:

My sixth lecture on English Haiku, which was held at Foreign Language Institute of Southeast Forestry University.

The directors of the institute Ms. Li Xiumei, Ms. Jiang Lihong and the director of English Department Mr. Liu Xiaokang were present.

Around 80 teachers and students attended the lecture.

  1. Nice to see so many taking an interest in haiku. Poetry may be what saves us all. I shouldn’t pick favorites but this is my favorite:
    “parrots on branches
    a green spring perches
    on a winter tree”
