Haiku by Chen Xiaoou in China (8)

2022 is the traditional Chinese Year of Tiger.

With the first two poems that follow, I sincerely wish the haiku lovers from Japan and all over the world an energetic and vigorous new year!

hatsumode
making wishes on
new year’s day

初詣
願い事をする
元旦

tiger’s howl

風が口笛を吹く
山の木々を通って

Eight haiku as New Year’s Present

our sun’s light
travelling across the vast
ends up at black holes

A Chinese Haiku

袅袅闻丝弦
琴轩不见援琴人
余音绕栋梁

the sound of
Qin’s strings is heard
yet no player found in the studio
it is the melody lingering
around the house

琴の弦楽器が聞こえる
まだスタジオに奏者は見えません
余韻の長いメロディー

Here are three photos.

Note to the Pictures:

Mr. Chen Xiaoou and his friends held a lecture on Qin and haiku on 17 Dec. in Kunming.

Miss Jiang Yiqi gave a lesson on the history of the traditional Chinese musical instrument, the so called Qin.

Mr. Chen explained the basic elements of the art of haiku and presented his poems related to Qin and music.

Around twenty people attended the lecture and showed a keen interest in both of the arts.
