天華舞ふ渓流に日はしづやかに光を映し佇みにけり

in silence

the sun reflects light on 

the valley stream

where heavenly flowers

beauteous snow alight

移りゆく色をば知らぬ寒の入り銀氷の山しろじろ浮かぶ

beginning of midwinter—

not knowing the vain colours

mountains

with silver-white shining snow

float in the air afar

光まばゆき雪を積み厳冬を幾年経るか老いの桜木

an old cherry tree

laden with dazzling

snow…

how many harsh winters

have you lived through?

大(おおい)なる黒を謳ふか雪の白窮めゆきける桜木の幹

you, cherry tree

praise the heavenly black…

snow is

becoming the ultimate white

on your trunk

雪雲にさ枝漲る桜木の影にほのぼの温もりの家

cherry tree’s branches

pervading snow clouds

casting shadows–

warm houses can be

dimly seen there

紆余曲折を経にけるか桜木も春に明かせよ撓まぬ心 

Has the cherry tree

gone through twists and turns

for many years?

Show your untiring spirit

when spring comes

雪上に氷柱(つらら)を落とし並べをり厚き氷(ひ)に込む雫は重し

icicles

dropped down and arranged

on the snow…

drops being loaded

into the thick crystal are heavy

寒中の氷結もまた人をとめ結びの妙の縁(えにし)あるらむ

in deep winter

freezing also makes

me stop

it may have

the ethereal knot of fate

スマホ触れば足早に時代ゆくタワーマンションのそり影して

touch the smartphone

times move fast…

tower condominiums

cast tall shadows in a vague  

and mysterious way

10

上京後コロナ禍にあり感染の有る無き問はず家籠りかな　

corona disaster–

after going to Tokyo

it doesn’t matter

if they’re infected or not.

Stay home-keeping still
