Haiku Collection! “PETALS” by Nada Jačmenica in Croatia

Nada Jačmenica is a haiku poet in Croatia, who participated in the World Haiku Series 2019.

Her haiku appeared on the website of the Akita International Haiku Network with the title “World Haiku Series 2019 (129) Haiku by Nada Jačmenica.”

Here is a short bio.

Nada Jačmenica was born in Sveti Križ Začretje, Croatia in 1953 where she has lived all her life.
As a physiatrist, she spent her working years in the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation in the town of Krapinske Toplice. She is a medical doctor. 
She is a member of Hrvatskozagorsko književno društvo (Croatian-Zagorje Literary Club) i Udruge hrvatskih zavičajnih književnika.
(Association of Croatian Homeland Writers).
She started to write in grammar school. As the time went by her interests grew towards writing short stories, essays, travelogues and dramas in the Kajkavian dialect as well. For the past few years she has dedicated herself to haiku poetry.
She takes part in a number of various literary contests and her work has been published in joint collections and post-contest anthologies respectively.
She has received several literary awards, in Croatia and abroad. So far she has published a comedy in the Kajkavian dialect “First time at the seaside” and is one of the two authors in a humorous prose-poetry collection “Forgotten laughter”.

In 2021, Nada Jačmenica published first haiku collection “LATICE / PETALS”, both in croatian and english language.

In 2022, Nada Jačmenica kindly and willingly gifted us with her first haiku collection.

It is our great pleasure and honor to introduce and share part of her marvelous haiku collection.

PETALS

are dedicated to my parents and my daughter –

they are my spring and my inspiration

Haiku is an awakening of the world

A SWIRL OF PETALS  花びらの渦 

clusters of colours–
fragrances are dripping from
the spring boughs

色の房 
香りが滴り落ちる
春の枝から

blossoming cherry–
the wind weaves a rug
from its petals

満開の桜 
風がじゅうたんを編む
その花びらから

meadow in May–
dandelion clocks
snowing on the day

5月の牧草地 
たんぽぽ時計
雪の降る日

spring morning–
a butterfly in haste
knocked on my window

春の朝 
急ぎの蝶
私の窓をノック

blossoming bride
changed her gown
after the wind left

花咲く花嫁
ガウンを変えた
風の後

WAR AND PEACE  戦争と平和

boy’s tears
on a dead bird’s wing
the smell of ashes

少年の涙
死んだ鳥の翼に
灰の匂い

the sunrays hugging
a wounded tom-cat through
the bomb shell tunnel

抱きしめる太陽の光
負傷した雄ネコを
爆弾のトンネル

the church–
on a ruined belfry
the birds again

教会 
壊れた鐘楼の上
再び鳥

a wounded owner
healing the war wounds
on a wounded roof

負傷した所有者
戦争の傷を癒す
傷ついた屋根の上

grandfather with his grandson–
an endless story
about the war

    Thank you for publishing the haiku collection of Nada Jačmenica from Croatia. You are trying very hard.
    I read it and received it as a gift from her.
    It is excellent, the flower arrangements are beautifully arranged.
