<令和6年 能登半島地震へ5首 / Five pieces tanka to 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake >

このたびの能登半島地震で被災された皆様に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。お亡くなりになられた方のご冥福をお祈りしますとともに、一日も早い被災地域の復興と皆様が穏やかな日常生活に戻られますよう心より祈念申し上げます。

短歌は日々のテレビニュースや新聞から情報を得て詠いました。写真は岩手県小岩井農場のイルミネーションです。

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the victims of the Noto Peninsula earthquake. I pray for the repose of the spirits of those who lost their lives and sincerely wish for a quick recovery of the affected areas and a peaceful life return to everyone.　

I composed 5 pieces of tanka based on information I received from the daily TV news and newspapers. I took the photos at the illumination at Koiwai Farm in Iwate.

1-

地によどむ流体滾り荒び起(た)つ能登の大地震(ない) 余震なほ重ね

fluid

stagnant in the ground

bursting out

now, still many aftershocks

2-

暖冬の元旦にゆる能登の地震(ない) 倒壊焼失 避難の車列

Earthquake in Noto

shaking New Year’s Day

in a warm winter

houses collapsing and burning

to evacuate, cars line up

3-

猛炎をあげ二百棟の家焼かる地震の延焼悲痛きはむる

roaring flames…

two hundred houses

on fire and burning

the spread of the quake

the extreme tragedy

はよ行けよと家族逃せし人は今 ああ不明者に、祈りとどけよ

“Get away quickly!”

the man who sent his family

ahead

is now missing

Ah! Our prayers come true

誠に残念ながらご遺体で見つかりました。心よりご冥福をお祈り申し上げます。

Sincerely sorry that the person was found to have passed away. May his spirit rest in peace; my deepest sympathies and prayers.

笑顔こそ復興の礎か被災せし人らつどひし絆の強し

in recovery

the victims get together

and strengthen the bond

白銀の奥羽の連山かなづるは聖なる響きあひは幽かに 

all pure white

Ōu mountain range plays

the sacred echoes

ethereal air drifting

between heaven and earth

7-

雪雲をわけあらはるる山々に古びゆくもの心あらたに 

on seeing

mountains break through

snow clouds …

my old one is renewing

and resulting heart

8-

ほとばしる胸のたかめき甦る白銀の嶺嶺われを知らしむ 

gushing rush

of my passion

revives me

the silver-white ridges

tell me who I am　

9 –

冴えかへり音ひそやかな夜明けまえ屋根の上より雪なだれ落つ

before dawn…

the cold air around and

the sound is silent

snow is sliding rapidly

down from the roof

10-

雪原の里の墓所へと柿花火弧線を描き垂（しず）り添ひたり

the firework of persimmons

draws an arch down gently

and accompanies

the village’s graveyard

amid the snowfield
