As I mentioned in her biographical note in the former part, Verica Zivkovic
had six books of poetry published “Someone’s Standing Behind you”;
“A Sickle in Shirt”; “The Undressed Sky”; “The Passer-by”; “Shift of the Moon”; “The Ripe Blackberry”.
Here is the cover of Verica’s book SHIFT OF THE MOON with her photo.
I sincerely hope that you will read Book by Verica Zivkovic Shift of the Moon.
Read the book by Verica Zivkovic Shift of the Moon which, with its refined art, according to reviewer Prof. Nebojsa Simin, is characterized by the fantastic possibilities of finding unusual and magnificent harmony through the impressions and emotions contained in the poems. The book places itself among the most significant works of contemporary world poetry.
The collection is printed in Japanese, English, German and Serbian.
Meet the poetess who has won 50 international awards for haiku poetry.
The book can be ordered at a cost of 5 euros from the e-mail address:
Verica Zivkovic is also well-known as a literary critic.
Here is part of Verica’s book review as follows:
MEN AND NATURE
By Prof. Dr. Kazuyosi Ikeda
— ABSOLUTE TENDERNESS AND PURITY
Published by “Chetana Literary Group”, Mangalore, India, 2003
Book Review by Verica Zivkovic (Starcevo, Serbia)
“Beneath the cloudless blue sky I sleep tranquilly.
O my green bed, extensive immeasurably!
O grass! never waken me by thy scent drifting
From my dream in the mild light of the sun of spring!”
In the finishing stanza we can find the romantic sensibility and combination of the association. In these lines the depth of motifs appearing in the previous stanzas is strongly invoked. And the Kurile Current and the vast sea have parentallysoft heart, filled with great love:
“The Kurile Current, running very quietly,
Has a gentle, tender heart, but is of coldness.
Having a parental love for the sea strongly,
It brings up over the deep a dream of hugeness.”
In the most fragile layers of the poetic being of this poem lies a literary solution of the whole poetry of Dr. Ikeda.
In the book “Men and Nature” Dr. Ikeda emphasizes the humanistic dimension and humanistic sense of poetry, creating inventive poetry- lexically rich, full of rhyme and divine sensibility.
Author: Verica Zivkovic, literary critic
Translation from Serbian into English: Prof. Milica Curcin
These two parts I have taken up are only part of Verica’s Haiku World, which I
think is the entrance to the deeper and wider poetic world of hers.
This is why I recommend that you should read and appreciate Verica’s books of poetry.
The next posting ‘News from HIA: ukiaHaiku festival 2011 and Haiku North
America 2011′ appears on February 12.
