Students Write Haiku for The Second Japan-Russia Haiku Contest : ECC KOKUSAI COLLEGE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES

On May 11, 2013, Mr. Makoto Morita (森田真)sent me an e-mail, introducing himself as follows.

Mr. Morita teaches English in Academic Affairs Section at ECC KOKUSAI COLLEGE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGESECC 国際外語専門学校)in Osaka, Japan.   He majored in Global Communication Practices at Professional Graduate School of Akita International University(国際教養大学)in Akita Prefecture.

He told us that he was informed of The Second Japan-Russia Haiku Contest on the Internet, and that he would take up English haiku in his classes. He thought of writing haiku in English as a good training for students to improve their abilities of using English practically.

About a month after, on June 17, I received an e-mail from Mr. Morita as follows.

Students have enjoyed writing haiku in English in his classes, which made good English lessons. Their haiku are beginners’ ones, but they were willing to submit 62 haiku for The Second Japan-Russia Haiku Contest.

Mr. Morita’s lesson of English haiku was introduced as exciting news on the homepage of ECC on June 12 as follows.
