Let haiku be on the UNESCO list!
Here is a letter of support for the campaign from Mr. Naselje Garča in Bosnia and Herzegovina, translated into English by Ms. Đurđa Vukelić-Rožić.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
With very few words one may paint an image – and there you have Haiku!
When, where and what had happened – in three verses all the answers are there.
only haiku is
in this century
understood by all
I write and I have been writing poems, stories, novels – books for the children.
Yet, writing haiku – I’ve become aware I can say and paint much more.
autumn image
of warriors and ruins –
tired is this world
Born in the culture of Japanese people, Haiku has enriched the culture of the whole world!
And therefore, HAIKU IS OUR COMMON WEALTH – a testimony of human mutual respect and preservation of true values of humanity.
dark rain clouds
yet we say to each other-
good morning
With my deepest respect,
Božidar Škobić – Čika Boško,
poet and writer…

Poštovane dame i gospodo,
Sa malo riječi naslikaš divnu sliku – Imaš Haiku!
Kada, gdje i šta se zbilo – u tri stiha su dati svi odgovori.
samo haiku
i u ovom vijeku
svi razumiju
Pišem i pisao sam pjesme, priče i romane – knjige za djecu . . .
A pišući haiku – shvatio sam da mogu: da kažem i naslikam – mnogo više.
jesenja slika
ratnika i zgarišta
umoran svijet
Rođen u Kulturi japanskog naroda – Haiku je obogatio kulturu cijeloga svijeta! I zato jeste naše – zajedničko bogatstvo – svjedočanstvo ljudskog međupoštovanja i očuvanja pravih vrijednosti!
Kišni oblaci
a ipak govorimo –
Dobro jutro
Sa dužnim poštovanjem,
Božidar Škobić – Čika Boško,
pjesnik i pisac …
