Let haiku be on the UNESCO list!
On January 23, 2015, Ms. Branka Vojinović Jegdić, Podgorica, Montengro , kindly sent me an e-mail as follows.
Dear Hidenori-san, dear Akito-san,
sending you my regards from Montenegro.
At this moment I’m collecting haiku by Montenegrin authors and will have published an Anthology in Montenegrin and English.
Haiku helped me and many Montengerin authors to connect with poets worldwide.
And knowing that everywhere on the Planet there are people who respect Nature, live in a modest way and care for other people in emphaty, it gives me hope that things will go on just right with this world of ours.
Haiku will not save the Planet, haiku will not make a world Peace, but in a wonderfull haiku way, with over million people writing, and many more reading haiku, and things look promising with his aid.
Sincerely,
Branka Vojinović Jegdić, Podgorica, Montengro
A letter of support
In Montenegro, epic poetry has been present for centuries and it has been of a major significance to the population, and by that, to the literature creators. Although it lauded/sang about the war ongoings in our area, which had been befalling much too often, in our epic poetry may be discovered parts which man and nature present as a unity which cannot be separated with anything.
And then, it arrived shyly from the East, this small – grand poem, glistening with sunlight and it became ours, teaching us how to watch and listen to the things around ourselves in a different way, how to live NOW in a full meaning of this word, without complicating the simple and everyday things with the unnecessary and redundant, but look at the images that move in front of us with joy, and finally, as the most important – to peer into ourselves and find our own inner world.
Or, we knew all that already and that’s why we accepted it so easily? Beauty of haiku poetry is, at the first sight, in its simplicity which has conquered many of Montenegrin authors. Once they perceived all its magic, they could not turn the back on it. Haiku poetry has become a part of their life, as haiku poets they became a part of its singing.
To change the world and leave it better is the aim of all haiku poets, for they know how to listen to Nature and convey it to their readers. So I, as well as many other haiku poets and poetessess wish to send a message to all, firmly believe that we will save our World from disasters and live in a better shape that we were born to.
