Tanka by Rika Inami (12)

※

I made this tanka after reading “The Chords of the universe” on Aeon, which is written about the relations between music and mathematics.  This article reminded me of a friend of mine who had loved rock-music.  About the photo, I took it while walking.

Yamaboushi is “cornus kousa” in the academic name and its English name is Japanese dogwood. When it is translated literally, it is Mountain Bonze. It is said that cornus kousa is called Yamaboushi because the round inflorescence in the center

looks like the head of a monk and four pieces of white involucre around the inflorescence looks like the hood of a monk.

The roses in the photo are called “Tatsuko-Hime”. The species has been grown on a test in Akita Prefectural Museum of Agricultural Science, so it is very rare and not sold. The name is from Tatsuko-Hime / Princess Tatsuko, the goddess of Lake Tazawa in Senboku City, Akita.
