Bio :

Ajaya Mahala is into poetry, story writing in both Odia and English. He specialises in haiku, a short form poetry with a style of Japanese origin.

Photography is also his pastime.

He did his graduation in Economics from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and pursued post-graduate study in Economics in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.

He is in employment with the Government of India as a Joint Commissioner of Income Tax. 
 

HAIKU

After his introduction to haiku in 2013, he won all major world kukai in a single year, 2014. 
His haiku have been published in several leading haiku journals. He has been selected as one of the contributing writers for spring/summer issues (17th Cycle) of Daily Haiku, a much acclaimed international haiku journal. 

He has to his credit several international haiku awards as under:
‘Haiku Master of the month’ by NHK World TV – a haiku programme in the national TV of Japan. 
One among 8 Honorable Mentions ITO EN Oi ocha New Haiku Contest 2016 and won cash prize of ¥50000. 
Vladimir Devidé Haiku Award 2016. 
20th Mainichi Haiku Contest in 2016
Romanian Revista haiku contest.(2016 and 2017 editions)
International competition for haiku on the theme: Blood Donation organized by the Croatian Institute for Transfusion Medicine, Petrova 3, Zagreb, Croatia.
3rd Japan-Russia Haiku Contest in 2014 
Kusumakara International Haiku contest 2017.
He has played an active role in organizing Triveni, the World Haiku Utsav 2016 at Pune.

 

Poems and Stories: He is a regular contributor of poems and stories in Odia to magazines.
