しくしくに北時雨ふる夜半めざめ色さむる朝おもひ侘びをり

 

at midnight 

northern drizzling …

thinking of

the morning fading colors 

I feel desolated

 

2.

 

 

み空の雪は舞ひ降りて瞬く間カラスの黒羽しろく覆ひぬ

 

snow 

falling from the sky

covers 

the black-feather of a crow

in a moment

 

3.

 

 

いざなふは遠つ火影かクリスマスカクタス忘れえぬの真はと

 

a flash from afar…

Christmas Cactus makes 

me think of 

unforgettable memories

… what is true

 

4.

 

 

月光の幾重の雲を透き通し満ちゆく時の流れに遊(す)さぶ

 

moonlight

shining through clouds 

in layers

plays with the flow

to being full

 

5.

天際に二星見たり君と我　相期せざるの仲にはあれど

 

in the sky

I see two stars

you and me…

even though we don’t plight

our troth

柿花火その枝撓みて雪に入る実りの熟し帰する時を得

 

persimmon fireworks 

the branches sagging 

into snow

the time is ripe for 

returning to all

 

7.

 

 

田の神のゆる漂はむ山かくる雪解靄こむる暖冬の朝

 

the God

of rice field flowing softly…

mountains 

hide behind melting snow-fog

on a warm winter morning

 

8.

 

雪ふらぬ冬の夜明けは長かりき垂氷したたり咳(しわぶ)きやまず

 

the dawn is long

in warm winter 

without snow…

my cough doesn’t cease 

icicles melting

 

9.

 

咳こみていねふせりたる病みし身に夢のささやきペンをはしらす

 

a fit of coughing

and being sick in bed…

whispers 

in a dream make me 

take up my pen 

 

10.

 

 

その子窓開け閉ざされし裡を冬空にはなつか…晴れ晴れ笑ふ

 

that girl…

opening a window 

and releasing her closed thoughts

into the wintry sky

…laughing cheerfully
