carved trunk of a beech

nick names scar over

above shoulder height

 

ブナの彫刻が施された幹

ニックネームの後が残っている

肩の高さより上に

 

day of reflection

we stare through windows

at winter rain

 

反射の日

私たちは窓を見つめる

冬の雨で

 

river’s bend

the merest swirl a sign

of deep currents

 

川の曲がり

一番ささいな渦

深い流れの標識

 

old padlock

for years rusted to a seaside

safety rail

 

古い南京錠

海辺に錆びて何年も

安全レール

 

gulls on sea’s edge

idly check beneath wings

waiting scraps on the tide

 

海の端のカモメ

翼の下でぼんやりチェック

潮に乗っているスクラップを待っている

 

my slow steps

in time with a herons neck

through reeds

 

私ののろいステップ

サギの首に合わせて

葦を通して

 

dew pond on the hill

ringed by hoof prints

and bird song

 

丘の上の露のおりた池

ひづめの跡で響いていた

そして鳥の歌で

 

hidden beneath

the netsuke even more

superb carving

 

下に隠されていた

根付はずっと見事な彫刻

 

engraved in wax

on the old table, fragments

of a thousand words

 

ワックスで刻まれた

古いテーブルの上に、

千の言葉の断片

 

hour of the fox

tracks cross, he briefly stares

then steps into shadows

 

キツネの時間

足跡が交差する、彼は簡単に見つめます

次に影の中に歩み入る
