In the Season of Sakura>

―Five pieces to Yashio Ikoi no Mori in Yurihonjo, Akita, Japan-

  It is “Peaceful Forest”.

1.

One mountain…

cherry blossoms

hazing over…

who painted one

in love?

2.

in the forest…

between yellow cherries

and double cherries

blooming in light colours

a warbler sings in breezes

3.

the surface

of a deep green pool

of the lake

reflecting fresh leaves

…the end starts the start

4.

seen

from the foot of a pine tree

by the wide-angle

Bridge of Happiness

is bubbling afar

5.

opening the door

closed by Coronavirus

boys are

playing freely

at Cherry Blossom Paradise

………………………………………………………………………

6.

tranquil…

the spring sunshine into

the wild field

turning from the site

nothing remains of the burnt house

7.

Flower Moon

named in the foreign county…

the full moon

shining serene

in the clear indigo blue sky

8.

eagerly…

expecting the hunter

of COVID-19

I stay home

silently

9.

Yamaboushi

shooting lushly

as if

kids prayed for the end

of Coronavirus

※Yamaboushi’s English name is Dogwood. The Japanese name was named from the flower form like Yamaboushi whose meaning is mountain monk or armed priest.

10.

in the graveyard

the cherry tree

may be

a guardian spirit of the village

against Coronavirus

  1. I love this because it’s contemporary and yet not disrupting the traditional style if writing. Not really a fan of haiku that is not connected to nature. These are the perfect way to reflect reality of today through nature’s perspective x
