Haiku by Elena Asch

 

Day of the revolution

the last dandelions

are turning gray

 

革命の日

最後のタンポポ

灰色になっている

 

nothing to wear

the sun is setting

in the weeds

 

着るものは何もない

太陽が沈んで行く

雑草の中 

 

the smell of a thunderstorm

a Daisy on the roadside

has two petals

 

雷雨のにおい

道端のデイジー

花びらが2枚 

 

tall grass

waving sides

of a pregnant cat

 

背の高い草

揺れる脇腹

妊娠中の猫の 

 

I remember the good

soft winter

sun

 

 私は覚えている

とってもやわらかな冬の

太陽

 

glove without a pair

through a hole in the little finger

sneaks a spider

 

片方の手袋

小指の穴から

クモをこっそり盗む

 

Valentine’s day

I take care

of an avocado bone

 

バレンタイン・デー

私が世話をする

アボカドの骨を

 

it’s not evening yet

the old lady is planting

perennials

 

まだ夕方ではない

おばあちゃんが植えている

多年草を

 

Indian summer

I admire the shapes

of wine bottles

 

小春日和

私は形に感心

ワインボトルの

 

the smell of pine resin

the first snow is falling

all day

 

松脂のにおい

初雪が降っている

一日中
