Earth’s hum

詩人たちが書く抒情詩

地球のハミング

rising mist

mountains hide

the morning sun

立ち昇る霧

山が朝日を隠す

winter…

all the things given to us

by the mountain

山によって私たちに与えられたすべてのもの

cherry trees, mountains…

the things God has given us

to shower with love

桜、山など

神が私たちに与えてくださったもの

愛を込めて惜しみなく与えてくれた

global warming…

the known world flooded

with unknowns

地球温暖化

周知の世界があふれている

未知のもので

straight and tall the pines,

surely they won’t miss us

when we’re gone

真っ直ぐに伸びた高い松、

きっと寂しく思わないだろう

私たちが去ったとき

troubled planet…

oh how I miss the koi pond

of my youth

問題の多い惑星

ああ、青春の頃の鯉の池が恋しい

shackled

to this Earthly existence…

the freedom in dreams

この地上の存在に束縛されている

自由は夢の中に

all over the world

the fading light of reason,

the pulsing of clocks

世界中で

消えゆく理性の光

時計の鼓動

another new year…

again we begin

with hope

また新しい年

再び希望を持って始めます

NOTE:

Kōhone (河骨) is Nuphar japonica.

The big washbasin is said to have been brought back to Japan from Korea by Kiyomasa Katō 「加藤清正」 during the Bunroku Campaign ( the first Japanese invasion of Korea 1592-1593) 「文禄の役」 and to have been sent from Ōsaka Castle to the Satake family at the discretion of Mitsunari Ishida「石田三成」.

蓮の花姿を映す胡月池

NOTE:

In 1951, the Ōga lotus was found in the ruins of the Jōmon period「縄文時代」by Ichirō Ōga「大賀一郎」. The seeds were stated to be over 2,000 years old. The lotus, awoken from its long slumber, is blooming now in Kogetsu Pond, with its dream coming true.
