Green honesty  

you, too, will be

silver in autumn

 

(honesty = Lunaria annua)

 

グリーンの誠実さ

あなたも秋にはシルバーになるでしょう

 

Two swans apart

two feathers in the lake

float together

 

離れた2羽の白鳥

湖の2羽

一緒に浮かんでいる

 

Heart-shaped pebble

in the scar of high tides

the trace of red soil

 

ハート形の小石

満潮の跡

赤い土の名残

 

Murmur of the sea

Aeolus is sticking

on my naked skin

 

(Aeolus = the ruler of the winds in Greek mythology)

 

海のつぶやき

アイオロスが付着している

私の裸の肌に

 

Strong jugo

the sea drowns out

my tinnitus

 

(jugo = southern wind)

 

強いジューゴ

海が私の耳鳴りをかき消す

 

Handful of wishes

the meteor shower

behind the clouds

 

一握りの願い

雲の向こうに流星雨

 

Setting sun

my thoughts extend the pier

over the horizon

 

夕日

私の考えは桟橋を広げる

水平線を越えて

 

Leaves falling off

I count the birds that

have not migrated

 

落葉

私はまだ渡ってない鳥を数える

 

Give way

a lush Virginia creeper

has overgrown the sign

 

(Virginia creeper = climbing plant)

 

譲りなさい

青々と繁ったバージニアクリーパーが

看板にはびこっている

 

Leaf in the cemetery

only the wind whispers

a mourning song

 

墓地の葉

風だけがささやく

喪の歌を

BIO

 

Alenka Zorman (1947 –) is a retired jurist living in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She has been writing haiku for twenty years, and was president of the Haiku Club of Slovenia and editor of its journal Letni casi (Seasons). Her work has been featured worldwide, and she has published two haiku books. She won awards in haiku contests in Slovenia, Croatia and Japan.
