<春-雪解の頃 / Spring-around melting-snow>

1 

幽かなる雪解けの靄のたちのぼる雲湧く谷に春は来にけり

melting snow…

haze rising up faintly

in the air

spring has come into the valley 

where clouds well up

憂ひ満つ豪雪のとき越えたれば雪消の野辺は滴り奏づ

pass

the days of heavy snow

filled with anxiety…

the path of melting snowfields

harmonizes dripping

3　

待つほどを越えて生くれば憂きものの霧氷と結ぶ白冴の朝

beyond waiting

I meet a graceful morning

with hoarfrost

my anxiety being

refined to purification

4　　

あくがれし心も失せて谷深く棲みて眺むる霧氷うつくし

yet, now

yearning is gone…

I have dwelled

in the deep valley and

seen the beauteous hoarfrost

5　　

越冬の薔薇も雪解にのぞきたり 棘鋭きに深雪(みゆき)痛しも

snow melting…

over-wintered roses are

visible

sharp thorns must have been

painful for the deep piled snow

6　　

耳に満つ雪消の滴(しずく)たつたつと未明に籠り書より逸さす

dripping down

the melting snow’s echo

fills me

and makes me look

away from the book at dawn

7　　

巡り来て春の彼岸に月満つる雲に朧は謎かけの如

time waxing

the moon becomes full 

in Spring Equinox Week

nebulous clouds 

 seem to be mysterious 

Note: Spring Equinox Week is one of the most significant events for Japanese Buddhists.

しづけさに疑念ひろまる深き夜に仰ぎまづ見る春の月読

in deeper night…

silence spreading the doubt

first of all

I look up to the moon

God’s light in the spring sky

拒絶するは犯罪臭か人間のエゴのふくらみ恐ろしきもの

what I reject

is the strange smell of crimes

expansion 

of human egoism 

how horrible it is!

無慚なる無差別殺戮の侵攻に子を喰らふサトゥルヌス見る

before my eyes

Saturnus eating children

in a cruel

and shameless invasion

with indiscriminate killing
