goddess and faeries
on the mooncake gifts
mid-autumn festival
女神と妖精
月餅のプレゼントに
中秋の祭り
rolling round
hay bales till late night
light of harvest moon
ぐるぐる回る
深夜まで干し草の俵
中秋の名月の光
village stores
knead buckwheat noodles
new soba
村の店々
そばをこねる
新そば
the thunder
that follows a lightning
my house shakes
雷
稲妻に続く
私の家が揺れる
bring-in
the crops from the fields
full september moon
持ち込む
畑から作物を
9月の満月

clear vernal morning
the sugary notes
of a rooftop shama
晴れた春の朝
屋上のシキチョウの甘い鳴き声

softly touching…
the mimosa flower
closes
そっと触れる
合歓の花が閉じる

plowing…
a bellow
in the water buffalo song
耕作
水牛の鳴き声に
雄のほえる声

straw hats bob
in the sun…
planting rice
麦わら帽子が日向で上下に動く
田植え

frogs crooning
in the sheltered creek
rain song
蛙が鳴く
保護された小川で
雨の歌

road divider…
the neighbour’s yucca
blooms
道路の分割
隣人のユッカが咲く

deep shade
tiny tots wait
for school bus
深い陰
小さな子供たちが待つ
スクールバスを

prayers for rain…
harvesting catfish
in the shallow pond
雨乞い
取られるナマズ
浅い池で

departing squalls…
calm ocean waves
return to shore
去って行くスコール
穏やかな海の波が海岸に戻る

lingering
fragrance of a civet cat
mango season
居残っている
ジャコウネコの香り
マンゴーの季節

Bio:
Christina Chin is a painter and a haiku poet.
She is four-time recipient of top 100 in the mDAC Summit Contests. They were exhibited at the Palo Alto Art Center, California.
She is the sole haiku contributor for the MusArt book of Randall Vemer’s paintings published by ArtReach Publication, Portland, Oregon.
1st prize winner of the 34th Annual Cherry Blossom Sakura Festival 2020 Haiku Contest.
1st prize winner in the 8th Setouchi Matsuyama 2019 Photohaiku Contest
and won two City Soka Saitama’s 2020 haiku prizes.
She is published in numerous exclusive journals, multilingual journals and anthologies including Japan’s prestigious monthly Haikukai (俳句界) Magazine.
