Let haiku be on the UNESCO list!

Here is a letter of support of the campaign from Ms. Tereza Salajpal, Koprivnica, Croatia.

The former half is written in Croatian, and the latter half in English.

We sincerely wish to appreciate and share it with each other.

Dear Hidenori-san,

Tereza asked me to send her thoughts about haiku to you, she wrote them in Croatian,
e-mailed to me, I translated them into English, and she is now afraid she will not send it correctly to you.
Sending you regards from snowy Croatia,

Djurdja

Prim. mr. sc. Tereza Salajpal, liječnica i pjesnikinja

Haiku – healing and being a helping hand to man

Haiku requires a focus on the moment, the here and now, where we should be living,  in order to  truly live our lives.  For me, haiku an experience of the moment in the outer world with an echo in my soul – or, a reflection of the experienced moment sent to the outer world.

Haiku is the imposition of the paradox as well, and a paradox allows reading of truth or pointing to truth.  Haiku targets the unconscious processes, and that’s why readouts of  message noted the haiku way needs reader’s ingenuity.  Since haiku touches the emotions of man, he can unconsciously be a great guide in psychotherapy – insensibly help to identify internal problems and therefore, act in a healing manner.

Besides reading haiku poetry, creating haiku helps healing our wounds, like any other poetry.

At my age, and I’m 82, haiku seems to be of a great support to my mental abilities – ingenuity, combinations and of course, to serious haiku poets, haiku my bring enlightenment and wittiness.

Best regards

 Tereza Salajpal, Koprivnica, Croatia
