1.
gentle zephyr…
light waves shimmer
on Lake Yashio
spreading before my eyes
reaching over the mountains
2.
gentle breeze
letting Lake Yashio ripple
returns
the divine light
to the welkin
3.
Harvest moon
shining bright in the clear sky…
as the moon-viewing of
my child days revive
I open wide the windows
4.
receiving
the sacred sake for
the harvest moon…
I float my love for you in
a solitary sake cup
5.
as far as I can see
the heavenly mist comes in…
Ogachi Field
transforms into a vast expanse of
harvested rice fields
6.
faint, white
and dense mist veiling
harvested rice fields…
smartweeds on the ridge
wave to them for thanks
7.
even though
I can’t see the future yet
I keep walking
… lights of a car in the fog
< 秋の彼岸に三首/ three pieces for Autumn Equinox Week>
8.
a woman
walking quickly through
the temple street
without looking aside…
I look towards her.
9.
white breezes
caress the wooden stupa of
a memorial service for the 100th
standing by
a lonely deserted grave
10.
at the end
of equinox week…
we wrap the offerings
and send off the deceased spirit
westward with incense sticks

Marvellous as always, dear Rika.
O wonderful !
It can be so cooling to the heart to watch the moon at night. nice poem
Wonderful expressions through Tanka. Thanks Rika.
This so powerful:
” I keep walking
… lights of a car in the fog”
Congratulations!
